Apologetics Animism: All objects and phenomena have a soul (all things are god or are a part of god) worship of ancestors, superstitions, magic Polytheism: Belief in several gods who act on the world (Greeks and Romans) Monotheism: belief in a single, revealed, creator God who acts on the world (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) Deism: Belief in a creative god, first cause, who does not intervene in human business (founding fathers) Agnosticism (“A” without ' “Gnosis” wisdom): Don’t have an answer about the existence of God. Not enough information to know either way. Atheism: Doesn’t believe in God. There is no God at all. Where does atheism lead us? Materialism: Physical matter is all that exists. Everything including thought, emotion and beliefs can be explained through physical or biological means. Nihilism (nihil = nothingness): Nothing can be known with certainty. Therefore anything that claims to be true (including religion) is meaningless and should be rejected. Anthropic principles of Biology Naturalistic biology states that all life originated from non-life Ridiculous! Consider the complexity of life 1953 Watson and Crick discover DNA Helical structure consisting of sides & rungs The DNA nucleus of a simple amoeba contains the information of 348 encyclopedia books And these aren’t random instructions These are very specific instructions Teleological Argument 2 How hard is it to randomly generate DNA? Unbelievably far fetched! To get 1 protein molecule (which has 100 amino acids) to form randomly would be like blindly picking 1 specific grain of sand from the Sahara desert 3 times in a row DNA has 200 protein molecules in a specific order Naturalist theories of spontaneous generation have no evidence at all to support them We never see specific instructions come randomly from nature. (watch & Mt. Rushmore) Non-life never produces life anywhere Spontaneous origins of life theories are purely based on faith… not evidence....
