It is human nature for us to keep improving ourselves. In certain cases, this improvement can be personal, professional or financial. At this point in my life, I am focusing on improving myself professionally by continuing my studies. This essay will explain the reasons for my decision to continue my education. In particular, it discusses what keeps me going, my plans for the near future, and why I am here today.
First of all, I believe my background played a positive role in my decision to pursuing my education. I was born and raised in a small village in Lebanon. I was surrounded by a wonderful family, who supported me and encouraged me to educate myself. I was a good student and I did remarkably well throughout my school years. Upon completing my studies, I became a teacher and worked in the field for over 3 years. A few years later, an opportunity to come to the United States came up and I had to leave everything behind. When I left Lebanon, I thought I could come to the USA and pursue what I had worked so hard on. However, I soon realized that the English language became a huge barrier, therefore I had to put all my plans on hold.
After a few years of being home and taking care of my children, I came to the conclusion that pursuing my education was the thing I wanted the most. I was willing to do anything to get into college,and pursue a professional career. I went ahead and did an English class and then signed up for classes at the Henry Ford Community College. I soon realized that I was very well surrounded; from the counselors who helped me get in, to my classmates and of course my amazing teachers who have been helping me learn in a supportive environment. I enjoyed everything about the school itself and became very motivated to further my studies.
