One cause for countries to have Nuclear weapons is for defense. In the world today there are many countries that are threatening to attack other countries. Countries want to possess nuclear weapons so that they can be used against another country if that country used one against the other. This will balance the power between different countries in the world today. An example of this would be the United States and the Soviet Union. Both of these countries have nuclear weapons to defend themselves from each other and will balance the power between these two world powers.
Another cause for Nuclear weapons is the existence of the state of Israel. Iran a strong Islamic republic wants to develop Nuclear weapons to destroy Israel.
