Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized

Weed, pot, marijuana, ganja, wacky tabacky. Whatever you want to call it, its all Cannabis. It is a drug that about 80 million Americans admitted to having smoked in their lifetime (survey done by the federal government), that is about 23% of the population. I’m not sure about Canada’s usage, but I assume it would be the same, if not more, considering we are less harsh with our marijuana laws. I will even admit to having tried it myself, and in my opinion, it is in no way harmful to our bodies and should not be banned. It is merely a plant, which if you happen to light on fire will make you happy and a little hungry. There are many organizations that are in place to do what they can to make cannabis legal. One being the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (or NORML) which is a non-profit organization that believes the recreational and medicinal use of marijuana should no longer be a crime (taken from their website) and does many things to get cannabis legalized. I believe that they are right, and that it should be. By legalizing the cultivation, and possession of marijuana for personal use it would (as cliché as this sounds) make the world a better place, as well as our lives easier, which I will be explaining in the paragraphs that follow.
