I think everyone should give blood at least once in their lifetime, if not multiple times. Donating blood can have all kinds of benefits, but here’s just a few. First, you can give blood because your body is constantly making more! Second, you get to have delicious snacks afterword. Third, you can save multiple lives with just ONE donation! Donating blood can help all kinds of people, big and small, old and young. People who require blood transfusions rely on your donations. Blood transfusions are needed for:
* Women with complications during pregnancy (ecoptic pregnancy, hemorrhages, etc)
* Children with severe anemia often resulting from malnutrition or maleria
* People with severe trauma following accidents
* Surgical and cancer patients

When giving blood, there are four simple steps that you will need to undergo. Before the donation though, you should drink lots of water, eat iron rich foods, wear something comfortable, and bring a list of medications you are taking. The first step in the blood donation itself is registration, where you will sign in and fill out some small paperwork and read information on the donation. Second there is a small physical, where a doctor will check your temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and hemoglobin levels with a small sample of blood. Now, thirdly, the donation. A nurse will clean your arm off where the needle will be inserted, its just a quick pinch then its over. Then you just sit and relax for about 8 to 10 minutes. Last, after about a pint of blood is collected, the nurse will remove the needle and you get to indulge in delicious snacks like cookies and gummies. You will stay and relax for about another ten to fifteen minutes so that the nurses can tell you’re feeling normal, and then its over! It’s that easy!
