Composing my artwork with the use of the willow sticks was the first attempt, made by myself, in illistrating the power of the scream throughout my work.
It was a easy substance to use, as it was easy to handle, as well as smudge and create lines and shaddowing, accentuating certain areas.
I liked the effect, as it stimulated the darker aspect of the work.
The eyebrows, and the mouth looked a great deal more realistic, and the way that the smudges covers all pure white areas giving it a more grundge look.
Although, the substance was highly loose and whilst working on it the travel between class and home became somewhat difficult, as holding the work caused the willow stick to imprint on hands, clothing & on apparal overall.
Also the willow stick effect, smudged all lines and areas that needed a deffinition, such as the shape of the head and the teeth, and fingers.
The work, when finished was sprayed and formed the darkness, and proved to be darker than i thought but i was satisfied of the result; my shading was done better than i thought i would do on my first attempt, but looking at the final product, the contour of the paper allowed there to be dots to be formed on the paper where the willow stick wasnt able to cover, i didnt like so much.
Also the more insignificant lines, such as the 'wrinkes' around the shut eyes become hard to see, as the willow stick has a certain leveled monotone in the black, and was only varied by the certain shading, and lines such as that couldnt really be made out through shading.
The fingers i could have drawn origionally better, as they dont look bad overall in the picture but individually, they could be deffinatly better.
