Working

Working

Even though people have to work, we should not have to work 30 years just to retire and live on a fixed income. I believe half of your life is over after you put 30 years into a job. We do not live long enough to enjoy life if we work 30 years.

Work, what is the meaning of work? One’s place of employment is how most working class citizens see this word. Another way people see this word is 30 years of their life at one place. We are going to talk about the pros and cons of working 30 years versus less. This research paper will help us better understand why we work ourselves to the bone.

This is a statistic of a seventy year life span and how we spend our time. Taking from Our Daily Bread, Nov 25, 1992.

Sleep 23 years 32.9%
Work 16 years 22.8%
TV 8 years 11.4%
Eating 6 years 8.6%
Travel 6 years 8.6%
Leisure 4.5 years 6.5%
Illness 4 years 5.7%
Dressing 2 years 2.8%
Religion .5 years .7%
Total 70 years 100%

Now let us say the average life span of a human is 70 years. Do you truly want to spend that much time working? The answer is no. Most people dislike their jobs and find it very hard to spend 30 years at one place.

This chart was done at Ford Motor Company my current place of employment. I asked 15 different people about how they feel about working for Ford. As you...
