In general view, it’s hard to combine wars with women. Down the ages, those sharp, heavy and powerful weapons are always considered to have nothing with women who are referred to be delicate, gentle and soft. Women are always combined with love, family and children. They cannot participate in the wars because of the weakness of power. It is men who against the flying bullets and even sacrificed their lives in the wars. Women are not asked to participate in the violence and blood; however, they are also heavily hit by wars. They suffer the pain and despair in the wars no less than men because they lose the most important support in their lives and they may also be threatened to death. In another side, in the history, women can also be the cause of a war. Therefore, the position of women in the wars should not be ignored.
In my opinion, women also play important roles in the war. There should be no distinction between man and woman in the wars because the emotions of men and women towards war should be the same and sometimes women will even have stronger emotions than men. In Chinese history, we have the story of Hua Mulan, the girl who was conscripted in place of her father. In Russian history, tens of thousands of women joined in the military to fight in World War II. These are respective examples to tell us that women can be brave and good at fighting. Women should have the equal rights with men even in the wars.
World and Gender also remind me of the sex discrimination which refers to ‘Man is superior to woman’. Woman is always considered as the weak because they are not as powerful as man. For a long time, man had been the symbol of power and woman was inferior to do some housework and took care of the children and family. Women were certainly not satisfied with such condition because they would also like to pursue their own life by themselves and fought for their rights.
