It was the first of December and the day started off a regular day as any other would in Portland, Oregon. Dark clouds filled the sky looking as if it were about to snow or rain and the people moved sluggishly because of the weather. There had been weather reports all week warning us that there might be a severe storm headed our way so we stayed indoors at school most of the day. As the end of the school day began to approach, winds began to pick up and bang against the school walls. Everyone was scared out of their minds wondering what was going on. The storm was on its way.
The school had decided to let us out an hour early to give us a chance to get home before the storm had fully started. Parents were already outside causing so much traffic just to pick up their kids. Usually my father would come and get me but for some reason he wasn’t there to pick me up. Traffic died down and almost everyone was gone leaving me waiting alone. I was extremely nervous because I just knew that at any moment the storm would began.
Two hours after school had let out my father had still not showed up. Winds started to pick up again and little drops of rain began to hit my face. I decided to just walk home after waiting for so long. Ten minutes into my walk it started to rain almost severely. I had an umbrella but the winds were so strong that it would just fold it inside out so I just put my hoody over my head. Finally after walking for almost twenty minutes, I was able to get home.

My clothes were so soaked in water that I had to take them off before I got in the house. There was no sign of my parents or my older sister in the house so it made me worry. I called everyone’s phone but no answer. 7 o'clock had approached and still no sign of anyone. By then the storm was in full affect with strong winds, heavy rain, and thundering. Things were banging against the house making loud noises scaring the living daylights out of me. I've always been afraid of thunder storms but...
