Assignment 4: WRAP-UP
1. Reflecting on the interviews with CEOs in The Corner Office, what did you learn about leadership that you did not know before? Be specific.
Before taking MGT 650 class and having the chance to read about different CEOs in the world, I always thought that there was only one particular type of CEO, as I imagined them to be certain ways or own certain characteristics and personality traits. I always assumed that a CEO had to be determined, strong-minded, and very august. As I continued to read the interviews in The Corner Office week after week, I came to realize that my assumption of leadership was not really thorough and complete. There are many different types of CEOs, and each of whom possesses different leadership style and skillset. While some leaders may believe that hard work and constant self-improvement are the keys to a successful business, others may think that collaboration and socialization are what will help you grow stronger in the long run. Every article, to me, is a precious lesson, since each week, they keep providing me knowledge that I never had a chance to know. I am very glad to be exposed to those chances, to understand more thoroughly about what leadership really is and to learn from the successful people in the world of business. As I may get to be a leader someday, I need to keep improving myself, foster my desire for success and bring my best to every challenge that comes along the way.
