Year-round School
In reference to the California Department of Education, “year-round education is not a typical alternative way to deliver the curriculum” (Year-Round Education Program Guide). Currently, we has longer summer breaks. Our summer break is about two and a half months long. Schools starts the day after Labor Day in September and get out the middle of June. Year-round school can help students, but my county should not consider changing, because we would have shorter summer breaks, more stress on students, and it is more expensive.
Year-round school will affect the student’s summer break. According to McCleary and Peercy, “when year round school is implemented, its impact on leisure travel is felt when it comes to who goes on a family vacation, when and where families take vacations, and the length of the vacation” (Sookhan Ho). Family vacations are typically six to ten days long. Children do not have ten to thirteen weeks during the summer from which parents can plan vacations. On summer break it is nice and warm and you can do stuff. But on winter break it is cold and you can not do as much like go to the beach. It would make their break be cut in half. Also it would affect how long you could spend time somewhere for vacation. That is why year-round school should not be used at our School.

It is not only the students that are stressed it is also the parents and the teachers. There would be no continuity in learning the material. Therefore, year-round school is more stressful in our School.
Year-round school can also be more expensive. The school would have to pay for twelve months of power and AC instead of nine months. There would be more wear and tear on the buses. K12 academics...
