Our nation needs a more affordable health care system. Even though many people will not want to pay extra taxes, affordable health care can be achieved by adding extra taxes to some luxurious items in order to provide needed money to all our nation's citizens. One of the main problems our nation faces is the amount of people that cannot afford decent health care, or pay for the proper prescriptions needed to cure illnesses. If everyone in our nation could sacrifice a little more money on taxes we could work together and add that extra money to a nationwide health care program. The idea is to add taxes to items that can cause illnesses and are not needed in order stop the use of them and to produce more money towards this new health care program. Of course there are going to be people that will not agree with this new system because of certain changes that will be made, however, in the long run this will help our nation dramatically.
First, we need to look over the advantages and disadvantages to our current health care systems. Our nation's most commonly used health care systems are; HMOs, PPOs, and POSs. These are all decent proposals, however, there is one thing they have in common; not everyone qualifies to use them. HMOs are for the low-income people, yet it is still not available to everyone. PPOs and POSs are for the higher-income people, but there are so many restrictions that make them unappealing. One thing they all share is a Primary Care Physician. The HMOs and PPOs have a lot of restrictions that come with their Primary Care Physician, but the POS is the most flexible since the enrollee gets to choose his/her Primary Care Physician instead of being assigned one.
