Most students face the test of writing a good research paper, which is not an easy undertaking. The majority are befuddled when assigned to do one for the reason that they never had the chance to do so and unprepared to do one. Thus, many are intimidated for they are not familiar with the fundamental components of a good research paper. This paper gives an overview of what a good research paper contains.
A good research paper must tell the reader why the paper should be read. It must convince that the paper is significant. The paper should clearly state the contributions. Some readers are indolent, and they simply do not want to comprehend the message of the paper. Thus, it is important to expend some time telling accurately what the inputs are, and not to presume that readers will comprehend the paper cautiously.
A research paper must contain a thesis statement, for it is the heart of the paper, and it lets the readers know the position of the writer on a particular issue. “Write a strong thesis statement that will be able to carry the supporting arguments” (The Fundamentals of Writing a Good Research Paper, 11). A thesis statement must be extensive enough to envelop the supporting opinions but constricted enough to convey attention to the paper. The paper shall be prearranged around the thesis statement, and each paragraph shall be in motion towards sustaining the thesis statement. Supporting paragraphs must all work for the sustenance of the thesis statement.
The writer must not only answer questions, but must make certain that the declarations are valid. Claims need to be substantiated and opinions or facts need to be supported. Each source included in the research paper should help make the opinion more credible and plausible.
