Hello my name is Eli Horton, I’m twenty four and this is a story about my life. I was born in Chicago, to a wealthy family who has ruled the city for generations. My dad who is one of the cities biggest mobsters controls every aspect of the underground world. My mother lives a double life. During the day a respectful dentist and at night my dads partner in crime. My mom and dad are my biggest supporters. You see I’m an entrepreneur; I come up with a lot of crazy ideas and my parents support me by being patient and loaning me money. My latest project was to make the first doggy diving suit. It was to enable a dog to deep sea dive. That idea did not work out so well and I blew 5000 dollars. My dad was so mad that he told me I had three days to find a job.
Today is my first day in looking for a job. I started out in South Shore which is a fairly good side of town. Walking around I noticed many places would not accept me because I’m Black and Italian. This a predominate white area, with the occasional black guy. I would have better luck trying another part of the city.
I’m heading out to River Grove today. My friend told me that Pep Boys was hiring and I’m desperate for a job. Last night when I got home my dad hounded me for the simple fact that I did not find a job. He told me he is sticking to his word this time. In the past he has threatened me before but I think he’s serious this time.
Well I just finished with Pep Boys and I don’t think it went so well. He asked me if I had job references, I told him I had never had a job before and that’s when the interview ended. He simply stood up shook my hand and said that he would give me a call if they needed anyone. I’m on my way home because it’s getting late and I’m tired. Ill just have to keep looking tomorrow.
Let’s see, to start my day off it’s my birthday. I walked down stairs and the first thing my dad said to me was “have you found a job yet.” I mean come...
