“First you will smile, and then you will cry—don’t say you haven’t been warned.” The narrator, Landon Carter, addresses the audience in the beginning of the film. He is referring to the story he is about to tell. “A Walk to Remember” is just that: unforgettable. Directed by Adam Shankman and based on the book by Nicholas Sparks, the film is inspiring and full of surprises. I found this move to be a real tear-jerker, but this emotional movie will help you to have faith and trust others as well as yourself. “You have to promise you won't fall in love with me.” This quote was said by Mandy Moore’s character, Jamie, in the beginning. The first time I saw the movie I couldn’t help but ask myself why she would say that. I later found out that she didn’t have much longer to live due to leukemia. Jamie did an impeccable job of pouring the film’s themes directly into your hears and mind. Landon Carter, a popular student, discovers he has feelings for Jamie. Even being on opposite spectrums of the social ladder, they feel deep in love. But when the heart-breaking secret of her leukemia becomes known that puts their relationship to the test. It is then that both Landon and Jamie realize the true meaning of love conquers all.
In the Film there are a few different camera shots and angles that hold specific meanings. The close up shot shows important details, especially about feelings and emotions. There is one scene, where you can clearly see Landon’s emotions, directly after Jamie confessed to Landon about how she is dying from Leukemia. His solemn drive home is filmed using this close up shot. It allows the audience to identify with Landon and interpret what he is feeling. At first I though he looked angry, than I realized it was more frustration and sadness than anger.
The long shot shows the object from afar to express the relationship between it and its surroundings. It can express sadness and loneliness. There is a long shot of Landon from the movie. His father...
