Francis Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896. He is considered to be as one of the greatest twentieth-century American writers. Francis Scott Fitzgerald was a Jazz Age novelist and short story writer. Fitzgerald through out his life wrote 4 novels:“This Side of Paradise”; “The Beautiful and Damned”; “The Great Gatsby” and “Tender Is the Night”. Also Fitzgerald wrote lots of short stories such as: “Winter dreams”; “The Ice Palace’’ and others. Fitzgerlad’s work has amazed and still continue to amaze lot people who read his novels and also some writers were inspired by Fitzgerald’s work.
The title of the book I have chosen to read is “The Great Gatsby” by Scott Fitzgerald. The main characters of this novel are: Mr. Gatsby is a complex multi-dimensional character and he is also a protagonist of the novel. Further in the course of the story it is revealed that his real name is James Gatz. He is a very rich man living in a big mansion in West Egg. However, he achieved his wealth with the help of organized crime, including distributing illegal alcohol and trading in stolen securities. In the course of the story there is a big change in Gatsby‘s personality, and that change takes place when his only dream and goal in life becomes loved woman. Nick Carraway also is a round character and a narrator of a novel: He travels to New York to learn the bond bussiness. There Nick becomes involved with Gatsby. He observes successfull love affair between his cousin Daisy Buchanan and Gatsby. Throughout all the novel Nick‘s personality and opinion especially about Gatsby remains the same. Daisy Buchanan is a beautiful young woman who Gatsby loves. She promised Gatsby to wait for him until the first world war ends but Daisy loved money and luxury that Gatsby didn‘ t had at that time. So she married Tom Buchanan who comes from a wealthy family. From that time Gatsby‘s only dream...
