I am whatever you need me to be.
I am malleable.
I will mold to your whims.
I will yield to your dreams.
I will fold to your desires.
Because I am not here, I can be there.
Because I am vacant, you can fill me with your criteria.
Make me into your desires.
There will be nothing to disagree with.
I’ll be exactly what you want.
And you still won’t want me.
I’ll be fake, *I’ll be artificial*.
A factory manifestation of your dreams.
And it just won’t be good enough.
It’s never good enough.
The fire that was lost.
The fire that was never there.
Love is never enough.
Why isn’t love enough?
You’ll forgo your dreams, so you can have hope.
Because if you fail at the things you want, you’ll have nothing.
So you hold on to what could be, instead of experiencing something real.
Did you expect it all to stop
At the wave of your hand?
*Like the sun’s* just going to drop
If it’s night you demand
Well, in the dark we’re just air
So the house might dissolve
But once we’re going who’s going to care
If we were ever here at all?
*Well, summer’s* going to come
It’s going to cloud our eyes again
No need to focus when there’s nothing that’s worth seeing
So we trade liquor for blood in an attempt to tip the scales
I think you lost what you loved
In that mess of details
They seemed so important at the time
Now you can’t even recall
Any names, faces or lines
It’s more the feeling of it all
Well, winter’s going to end, I’m going to clean these veins again
So close to dying that I finally can start living.
