I Got a D in Slami

The title of the book I chose is I got a “D” in Salami. The authors are Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver. The main characters are Hank, Frankie, Ashley, Emily, Robert, Mr.Gristediano, Ms. Adolf, Papa Pete, and Mr. and Mrs. Zipzer. The story takes place at Hank’s apartment, the kids’ school, and The Crunchy Pickle, the Zipzer’s deli.
It was Friday the day of the big Spelling Bee. Hank had studied so hard the night before and had every word memorized. He was sure that he would win the bee and get an A in spelling on the first report card of the year. Hank met his friends outside their apartment building. The three kids continued to walk to school on the cold windy morning.
When they arrived at school, Ms. Adolf was standing at the front of the room. The spelling bee was about to begin. She called for a volunteer to start the spelling bee. Nick, Hank’s nemesis raised his hand and began spelling. When Nick was done it was Hank’s turn. He walked up as confident as could be. Ms. Adolf told him to spell the word memorize. Then Hank choked, his mind went blanked and was sent to the principal’s office.
When Hank got to go back to class report cards were passed out and Hank got 3 D’s. He hid in the bathroom. Then he had to come out and meet his friends so they could walk to the deli. Frankie, Ashley, and Rob all got all A’s on their report card.
When they arrived at the deli Hank’s mom asked how school was and to see his report card. Hank and his friends walked back to the kitchen with his mom to talk about the report cards. When his mom asked to his report card he pretended he had no clue where it was. Then he got it out secretly and passes it to Frankie. Frankie passed it to Ashley then she handed it Robert. When he got Hank was out of friends so Robert put in the meat grinder. The report was grounded up in the salami.
Right then Papa Pete walked in. He had a brown bag with garlic in it to add to the soy salami. Without a doubt garlic...
