Unit Rationale
This unit will focus on the Civil War and the different lessons that pertain to the history of the war. We will explore the different battles and people of the war. The students will have two major projects that have to do with the Civil War.

Standards: Utah Standard 9
Theme: Civil War
Lesson Topic: Eve before the Civil War
Objectives:
Language: Listening and Speaking- Students will listen to the teacher give instruction on lesson. Students will then ask any questons about assignment. Reading- Students will read questions and find answers to questions on handout. Write- Studetns will write answers to qustions.
Content: Studetns will know information about the railroad, slavery freed slaves, agriculture and so on before the war broke out.
Learning Strategies:
Key Vocabulary: Slaves, population immigration, agriculture, crops,
Material: Computer, handout, pen or pencial
Motivation: Teacher will explain lesson.
Teacher will take students to computer lab to look up answers to questions.
Teacher will walk around to see how students are doing on assignment.
Presentation: Students will be given a handout of questions to answer.
Teacher will answer questions if need be.

Practice and Applications: Students will answer questions on their own.
Students will raise their hand if they need help.
Students will turn in assignment to teacher if done before end of class.
Students will take home assignment to finish if not completed by end of class.
Review and Assessments: Students will be assessed based on points of every right question. Also if completed.
