2008 Presidential Election

The 2008 Presidential Election is currently in full swing. The major candidates include for the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and for the Republican Party, John McCain. Anyone who is participating in voting, which should be everyone who is able to, must take this decision very seriously and make themselves aware of each candidates stand on major issues in our country. Some of the major issues we are currently facing include abortion, health care, the war in Iraq, climate change, and tax reforms. Both candidates in the Democratic Party show somewhat similar point of views but for the most part differ from the Republican candidate’s point of view. I believe that due to the state of our country after having a Republican in office for two terms that a candidate from the Democratic Party would be better suited for the job. A Democratic candidate would be better suited for the job because many of the paramount issues we are dealing with call for immediate actions towards a solution. The issues are the war in Iraq, abortion, and health care. The Republican Party does not offer a satisfactory proposal for these problems, whereas, the Democratic Party does.
For example we have been in Iraq for five years and have definitely lost much more than we have gained. We have already spent approximately $845 billion dollars and an estimated 150,000 to over one million people have died since the invasion. With each passing day we spend in Iraq we put our country farther and farther into debt and more people are dying for a cause that shouldn’t even involve our country; the Republican party wants to finish what we started in Iraq but the Democratic Party wants to pull our troops out in a safe and sufficient way. The latter is definitely a better solution because we invaded Iraq due to false accusations and it is time for Iraq to try and stand on their own two feet. This is just one example of the Democratic Party being more appealing than the Republican....
