In order to assist people in the ability to enhance the different concepts of their lifespan McMinn has instilled the basic concepts pertaining to psychology, theology and spirituality. According to McMinn it is critical for the counselor to be strong in the use of showing their spirituality, so that the counselor can stay abreast with the progress of their clients (McMinn, 2011). McMinn addresses the difficulties and circumstances counselors must take along with their limitations. When a counselor integrates their spirituality into their counseling sessions, it brings out the challenges that are due to the clients because of the client’s lack of comfort in the sharing of experiences of reading the Holy Bible. As a result counselors often omit the essence of God’s word and the reading of the Bible during the counseling session.
This causes major confusion for the client to interpret the messages that are conveyed by the counselor. McMinn text provides leadership to counselors who are willing to find strength spirituality as well as being within themselves. By integration Spirituality into the counseling sessions counseling, some of the main elements used in the sessions can give strength to the client’s spirituality that can enhance the client’s life. The client will gain a better attitude and feeling about themselves while gaining the understanding of basic necessity of human needs and their limitations. McMinn states that as the client transition through their spiritual process the client will find away to develop a deeper relationship with God and others.
McMinn reminds us that his text psychology, theology and Spirituality is an effective tool that divides the subject matter in the text into chapters as McMinn sets the reader up for the challenges and key strategies that the counselor can utilize to better serve the client’s psychological and spiritual...
