Frontier wars- Essay.
“Aboriginal resistance to the European invasion has not been given the respect it deserves. It was a heroic defense of right and beliefs in the face of impossible odds, worthy of the admiration white Australians have for other people against whom they have fought. Perhaps the central truth of the frontier wars is that the Aborigines had no chance of winning.”
INTRODUCTION:
The aborigines have been living in Australia for 40,000 years until the Europeans and did no know if there was any settlement in Australia. The culture and the land and the connections to the land was not understood by the early European settlers. The European settlers thought that the land was theirs to take. Once the Aborigines began to notice that the European settlers were here to stay they tried to fight back.
At the end the Aborigines could not resist the growing flood of European settlers. The numbers of Aborigines were being quickly reduced by the diseases the Europeans brought to the land. The Aborigines had no resistance to the new diseases in Australia.
BODY PARAGRAPH 1:
Topic sentence: What caused the conflict between Aborigines and the Europeans?
The cause of the conflict was that Europeans had an arrogant attitude towards the Aboriginals and the aboriginals were fighting back to protect their own land.
The Europeans were trying to over Australia. They were clearing sacred place, cut of access to waterholes and were the Aborigines hunted without the permission of the elders. The Europeans expected the Aborigines to become like them, dress, act and live as they did. Aborigines were ordered to live on special reserves as they were told it would protect them. As years went by Aborigines were being killed when they went to European farms looking for food which originally it was there hunting ground. European were being attacked by group of Aboriginal warrior. By the end the Aboriginal people had no chance of resisting the growing flood of...
