Nowadays education is becoming more and more important in society. How to get the best results? There are different factors that improve it are arguable among experts, teachers and parents. The issue is whether single sex classes influence greatly academic achievement. This issue is controversial and attracts many debates. Many people believe that boys and girls influence well each other, giving rise to good behaviour and maturity. However, studying separately boys and girls show better academic results. Firstly, boys and girls have different learning styles and in coeducational classes it takes more time to use this styles. Boys and girls’ brains work differently. Milita Chilton, the science master teacher, said “her approach varies drastically in the classroom, depending on the gender of her students.”(as cited in Hall, 2007, p. 63) With boys she used more competitive method, and they show better academic results. With girls she used more relational method, and they also show better results. In addition, according to Christopher Rasheed, teacher at Southern, boys do not like reading and writing, girls like such subject as art, and also they like writing and reading. (as cited in Hall, 2007, p. 63). Different learning styles has significant influence on academic achievement. Secondly, in single sex classes discipline is better than in coeducational classes. Studying separately boys and girls focus on listening lecture, learning, academic performance. Boys and girls distract each other from their education, especially in adolescence. Too much time can be spent attempting to impress each other. Christopher Rasheed said that learning in mixed classes boys and girls pay more attention to each other (as cited in Hall, 2007, p. 63). Girls try to attract boy’s attention to them, write notes to them. Boys look at girls. Children pay less attention to education, don’t listen to lecture.
