Acountability importance

What is the importance of accountability? The importance of accountability is to help address both the organization's expectation of the soldier’s and the NCO's expectation of the organization. Accountability has a strong connection to expectations. Soldiers who do not meet the expectations of their NCO are held accountable for their actions and must answer for their inability to do so. Accountability is crucial to ensuring high performance within an organization. However, NCO’s must clearly communicate their expectations to the person who is responsible for the specified action or task. Clear communication of expectations and well defined goals is a very effective tool to enhancing performance at every level of organization. Without defined goals, soldier’s lack a frame of reference for how they are performing in the workplace. They are unable to rely on guidelines or a structure that helps them achieve their performance goals. In many organizations, the management team and the higher ups create goals for themselves and the shift leaders, while the shift leaders creates goals for shift leaders. This process is replicated throughout the organization, down to the first cooks who create goals for entry-level soldiers. Both subordinates and NCO should have a clear idea of how their projects should be handled and delivered. A clear expectation level and the understanding that all soldiers are accountable for their performance boosts everyone’s morale and productivity in the workplace. However, because different individuals in large organizations contribute in various ways to a DFAC's decisions and policies, it is often difficult to identify who should be accountable for the results.
