Successful Attitudes toward reading
In this reading I believe the author is trying to point out keys on ways to become a successful college student and how to make reading easier. This reading has many great points that are helpful; one that caught my attention was “success strategies.” Visualizing my success through the challenges that will be in my way is one way that will help me throughout my college years. Another key point that has helped me in this reading is ways to help me control my distractions and focusing my attention to what I am reading. These all have been helpful to me and I plan on putting everything to practice, especially active reading. I never have been a fan of reading, but in this reading I put active reading to work.

Freewriting
The main thing the author in this reading was trying to point out to me is how freewriting can help improve my writing skills. He sets an example in this reading from a student, that even writing gibberish on your paper helps, eventually. He also states that when you are doing freewriting to not worry about going back to see if you misspelled a word or if your punctuation is incorrect, because that loses your train of thought. Summing up this reading the authors main focus is stating that freewriting is nonediting, and how practicing this exercise at least 3 times a week for about 10 minutes without stopping brings the process of producing words and putting them down on your page.
