Description of Management Position
Master Warrant Officer (MWO) is a senior military rank with the Canadian Forces (CF). MWO Christopher Murphy’s job as CF Senior Parachute Rigger/Specialist (CFSPR) is complex and requires in depth trade knowledge. His position holds a senior leadership role with a wide responsibility in overseeing the quality assurance of all military parachutes. For MWO Murphy to have made it this far in his career, he has demonstrated expertise in a variety of skills. This would include, senior expertise in his speciality, including the understanding of fabrics, hardware, webbing, regulations, sewing, packing of parachutes. Aside from having expertise in his specialty, the position has a wide range of responsibilities requiring a broad range of skills. MWO Murphy is responsible for Parachute Packers, Maintainers and Riggers throughout the entire Canadian Armed Forces. His position places high demand on performance in order to ensure that all his duties are completed in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
Role, Function and Outcomes
Despite having such a large responsibility of overseeing every parachute Rigger in the military, MWO Murphy’s position would be classified as middle management.
