Advertisement Targets

Advertisements are everywhere. They are put on the internet, in magazines, on television, in newspapers, even on the side of buses. You may not think that you are paying attention to any of these, but that is not always true. Subconsciously, you are. Specifically, perfume advertisements in magazines target young women, and try to steal their attention. I have found two perfume advertisements out of different magazines to prove my point.
The first is a picture of a flawless woman. The background is of the ocean with waves tumbling in. Clouds are floating in the pale sky. She is leaning on green forest leaves to her right. Her hair is wet, blowing in the wind, and a couple of strands are swept over her face. She has deep blue eyes that looking incredibly determined and seems to stare straight through you. In the bottom left corner, it states the name of the perfume, by Giorgio Armani. It is called Acqua di Gioia, “the new essence of joy”. In the right bottom corner, the bottle of fragrance seems to be hovering and glowing.
The advertisers want every person who lays eyes on this advertisement to think that you need this perfume. Without it, you will not feel as this woman in the photo does. Their job is to convince you that if you wear their scent, you will be better off than you are without it. The advertisers are directing this ad at women, so they used a gorgeous woman who seems to have no worries and is content. They used an impeccable background which forced women to think that the bottle of perfume can bring that scenery to mind when they smell it. As I said, this ad is targeting young women because they are easily influenced and can be manipulated to believe they need unnecessary things in their life. The woman in the ad looks to be young, and approachable. The woman in the photo pushes young girls to believe that this product will make them desirable. They believe that without this perfume they will not be looked at in the same way as others who do own...
