Affirmative Action Good or Bad

Affirmative action is it a hindrance or a help. I believe it is a help in the end. I will set out to prove that Affirmative action is working and necessary. I will prove that without Affirmative action minorities would have less opportunities. Sex, race and etc. are all examples of forms of discrimination covered by Affirmative action.
Affirmative action is defined as the practice of improving the educational and job opportunities of members of groups that have not been treated fairly in the past due to race, sex, etc. Affirmative Action provides more and better opportunities to minorities. Due to Affirmative Action more women up are holding middle management positions in the corporate world. Affirmative Action helps minorities rise in a field at a greater frequency, it also increases the number of people who believe afield is open to them. Affirmative Action assures a diverse applicant pool and more diversity in leadership. Affirmative Action overcomes ingrained corporate biases toward minorities.
Affirmative action has set out to level the playing field for blacks. Providing more opportunities for higher education and jobs. According to the ACLU blacks are almost twice as likely as whites to be unemployed. Affirmative action provides a way to address this discrimination. As for Affirmative action in education started with Brown vs. Board of Education. This decision ruled that state sanctioned public school segregation unconstitutional. Affirmative action provides greater availability to blacks for not just education, but jobs and housing.
Affirmative action can cause reverse discrimination and lower standards of accountability needed for students or employees to perform better. Example students may not be equipped to handle the school and workload they have been admitted too.
