Gambling
The economy has really hit the nation hard; people have lost their jobs and are on unemployment and people have lost their homes. Jobs are scarce throughout our state due to the automobile industry shutting down, losing NCR to another state, and losing Dalsey, Hillblam, and Lynn founders of (DHL) Worldwide Express(formerly Airborne Express) by closing. I really think passing the law to allow gambling in Ohio was a really great move for our economy. Gambling is good for the economy because it supports education, creates jobs, and increases tax revenue.
Not only does gambling support education, gambling createsjobs for the unemployed and welfare recipients. The jobs that would be created if we would allow a Casino in our state would be lifeguards, waiters, waitresses, secretaries, bartenders, janitors, electricians, dealers, casino workers, and more law enforcement agents to control the casino and around the casino. People can even go to school to learn how to become a dealer.
Not only does gambling create jobs, it increases tax revenue for the state. Profits from this industry pay close to 1.4 billion dollars in state and local taxes. It makes an income of 25 billion dollars a year which would be put back into the economy. We would also gain by having other people from other states come to our state to gamble which would increase our revenue. People who want to gamble will travel to gamble no matter what. Today Ohioans go to Indiana and support that states tax revenue.
