Altered Perception

Meditation is a way of a balanced life. It describes a state of realization, when the mind is free of scattered thoughts and various patterns. The energy of the body and mind can be liberated and the quality of perception can be expanded through meditation. Feeling free without any other unwanted thoughts in the mind makes a person healthy and relaxed. I think it leads to a stress free life, and gives more energy. I have always wanted to do yoga or meditation in my life, as I was inspired by the model of self realization. Conversely, my parents never gave me the option to, since they believe that it is not accepted Christianity. When I saw the choices that were given by Dr J for the assignment I was very happy and I decided that I should do it somehow. Therefore, telling my parents that it was compulsory for the assignment I got the permission, since I had no other reasons to give them. At first it was very difficult for me, thought I was doing something that my parents didn’t like, as from my childhood days till this minute I never go to argue with my mother, as I believe that she knows what I should do and what I should not.
I chose the lotus position, as during my childhood times I always used to sit in that position, where after the age of 15 I just could not sit in that position ever since I lost touch of it. It was a bit difficult for me for the first few minutes however it turned out to be the comfortable position for me later. I started this around 8 pm, which I thought was a very quiet time, and the place I chose was my garden. First of all, my mind focused on a waterfall, I felt very relieved and calm. I felt very relaxed; I could only hear the sound of the waters. In a little while I focused on a word called “quietness”. As time passed by I was able to see myself inside a cave, where I stood quietly, where there was a slight sound of the waters only. I realized that I had no other thoughts apart from this, as a result I felt very happy.
