Chasing A Dream While Living A Nightmare
There are different points of views of the lifestyle that people have when it comes to living in Los Angeles. There are those views of the people who have been living in Los Angeles for most of their lives, and there are the views of the outsiders whom come to L.A seeking a dream. Los Angeles has been known to be a city where stars are born, a place to start a new life with opportunity. It is unfortunate many cannot claim success, but instead they become victims of Los Angeles’s gravitational pull that brings people down. People think to highly of Los Angeles, so they get caught up in a dream that ends up a nightmare. What is the dream that Los Angeles influences people to willingly sacrifice so much for?
The American dream can be said to be a life of personal happiness and material comfort as traditionally sought by individuals in the U.S. It is also defined as the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American. There are many ways to define the American dream, it all just depends on the American that dreams it. Each person has a different interpretation of the American dream, it can be big, or it can be simple. Somebody who has been living in Los Angeles for years would have a better understanding on what L.A is really like and what it has to offer. The American dream to this individual would be simple, which is, to own a home in a nice neighborhood and raise a family. As for somebody that is not aware of the reality in Los Angeles, there dream coming here would be to live like a celebrity. These outsiders envy celebrities and become convinced that they are living the American dream, so, they strive to follow in their footsteps to achieve what they believe to be the American dream.
