"Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan"

I am fascinated with Rizal’s old popular saying “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan” which translated in English as “The youth is our country’s only hope”. I’ve heard/seen these words left by our national hero a couple of times in our fieldtrip, even the Rizalistas we met had a song about it but I don’t know if this saying is still good nowadays. How can we say that the youth is our only hope? When most of the young people that everyone considers as our country’s hope are a disgrace to our country, doing wrongful and unlawful that are not acceptable to the society. I believe that they can still change and be better people, we just have to help each other. There is still hope for a better future for us and for the generations to come, never lose hope.

Having hope for our country is just a small thing but does something big for everyone. I figured that if all of us do not lose hope maybe it would inspire others to take action and do something good for the people and for our country. It’s not too late to change and do...
