Retain what you read and pay close attention to headings, boldface type, chapter objectives, and summaries. When reading take good notes and highlight important text.
Recite
What did you recite?
Read and reread your questions and answers while retaining as much as possible in your memory. The best technique for me is to teach them to someone else.
Review
How did you review?
I like to take a break then come back and explain what you have learned in your own words. Then you know you are retaining the material. Keep repeating this SQ3R technique until you know the material fluently.
Wrap-up Questions: How successful was the SQ3R process in helping you grasp the concepts in the section you selected? Will you use SQ3R in the future as a way to master the content in academic readings?
It was quite helpful. I have naturally done this in the past on my own on a simpler scale. This helped me to really break the steps down to master a great study technique. I will definitely use this skill on future assignments.
