The early lives of three of our founding fathers were very similar. All of them were separated from their mothers at a young age. Thomas Jefferson and George Washington shared almost the same childhood. Their fathers died before they became adults. The two founding fathers also were both born into very wealthy families unlike John Adams. Thomas and John never developed a relationship with their mothers but developed relationships with their mentors. Each one of them had a person that helped to shape their mind into some of the smartest men in American history. These smart men also accumulated an enormous amount of acreage. They didn’t let the acreage go to waste either. All three of them were extremely successful farmers and businessmen. The early lives of these founding fathers is what shaped them and made them the very wealthy and prestigious men we know today.
Thomas and George had a very similar childhood. John Jefferson and Augustine Washington were both extremely wealthy men who owned thousands of acres. Those fathers also died before both of there sons reached adulthood, and in the pre-revolution time the first born son is often favored more and also receives all the property. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were both the first-born sons.. Even though George was Augustine’s third child, he was the first son of his father’s second marriage and eventually receives Mount Vernon. Thomas’ father died before he was an adult so Thomas could inherit the property when he turned twenty-one. So the two kids knew that they would have a lot of property when they got older. John Adams on the other hand was not born into a wealthy family with hundreds and hundreds of acres. His father, Deacon John Adams only owned fifty acres and was a shoemaker. George’s dad Augustine was a farmer and he had constructed a furnace. By the time Augustine had died he had accumulated three houses, twenty slaves, and a substantial plantation.
