AR 670-1 20-24 page 139 talks about socks. The first type of socks you are authorized to wear in your ACU’s would be green socks. You are issued green socks at your clothing issue facility (CIF) in basic training. Depending on where you are stationed and how they want things done, because they might take your CIF back. This is why the army has green socks for sale at your local clothing and sales. Tan and black socks are the only other two colored socks you are authorized to wear in your ACU’s.
