People look at a soldier and assume they are just fighters and killers. They don’t realize that there is more to it than that. We are also considered professionals because of the things we do. Like most civilians we have to go to school to learn how to perform our job better. That is why we go to many different schools so we could better perform our job. We study and work hard to excel at our job so that one day we can make it a career. A soldier is not only trained to be a combatant, fighter, or a strategist. There are hundreds of MOS’s that define what else we are. In other words we are engineers, medics, military police, and of course infantry. Like many jobs and careers they contain many rules and codes of conduct. Except ours is much stricter than theirs. A lot more is expected out of us not just during training. We have to obey these rules throughout our whole career in the army. These rules apply to us on and off the base. We have to conduct ourselves as professionals within the civilian world. This is how we are taught throughout or training. They want us to be able to work with other civilians and still perform our job effectively. They do this by showing us that being a professional can help you move forward in both the military and the civilian world. It does not matter what rank you obtain or how good you are at your job. Only how you handle yourself and others in any situation. Education and training are not the only thing that makes a professional soldier having people skills is especially important. In the army they teach you how working together can drastically affect not just your life but the outcome of the work progress. We are put through many tasks and trails show us that sometimes we need the help of others. At first we were reluctant of the whole idea of helping someone we don’t even know. But after going through these trials we found out that even though we have never met each other they are working towards the same cause as the rest of...
