There are many differences when it comes to representational art, non-representational art, and abstract art. Abstract art is art based on natural form but, it is distorted from the natural form. An example of abstract art from the textbook is “ The Chiefs Stool.” “ The Chiefs Stool” shows a natural form which consists of people. By looking at it you see people carved out of wood holding up the part of the stool someone would sit on. Non- representational art uses visual forms with no reference to anything outside of it. An example from the textbook would be “Gray Night Phenomenon”, which shows a canvas of brush strokes and two colors. When looking at this canvas I see no reference to anything other than the two colors or the brush strokes shown. Representational art is an art in which the artist has intention to represent something specific. An example from the textbook of representational art is “ A Smoke Backstage”, in this painting it shows a pipe and tobacco on top of some sort of book. The painting has such a real look it's as if it was depicted from a photograph. When we view abstract, non-representational, and representational art we see it through our eyes. We focus on what we see and how we can depict what we see. All 3 forms of art are different and similar in there own ways. It is what makes each type of art so interesting.

Abstract art shows the qualities of natural forms in varying ways. Classical music is and art music produced through western music. In the definition of classical music there is the word art which to me helps to define why abstract art and classical music go together. When I personally look at abstract art such as the “ Abstracted Cow Series” from the textbook, I picture the music to go along with it in my mind. Classical music helps to bring the abstract art to life....
