No believed that an African American had any chance of winning the nomination when Barack Obama went in front of a cheering crowd to announce his candidacy. Many of Americans did not believe that the United States was really ready for an African-American leader with a plan of changing the way things were ran in Washington. However, on November 4, 2008, for the first time, the citizens of the United States elected an African-American president with a name Barack Obama. It was one of the most amazing presidential elections in the United States history. The power of democracy had again proven to be the only thing necessary for the achievement of a person. His inauguration on January 20, 2009, encouraged not only the people of America, but also people all over the world. The election brought forth the unity that people needed and were looking during the country’s worst economic crisis since Great Depression. Americans believed that Barack Obama was the right person for the presidency. Barack Obama gave the citizens of the United States every reason to nominate him as president. Between his leadership style and his ability to communicate with the voters during the campaign, made him the best person to be the president of the United States. Both Obama and other politicians blamed the midterm election downfall on the fact that they were not able to communicate with the citizens effectively. Some believe that it was Obama’s politics that the voters disagreed with during the midterm election. Obama did not believe that the people of the country would blame him for the lack of communication with them. He believed that his ability to communicate so well would be a huge advantage to him during the election as well as the presidency.
