Bartenders

Bartenders

Bartenders should not be held responsible for the behavior of their patrons because they are not officers of the law, therefore they cannot enforce it, further, every person is responsible for their own actions and not the actions of others, and whatever happens from the minute the drink is in the customer’s hand is not the bartender’s liability. If someone buys a gun and shoots someone with it the store where it was purchased is not held responsible just as bartenders should not be held responsible for what happens to a drink or the customer after he makes a sale.
Is it really the bartender’s fault if a patron leaves his bar and is picked up by the cops for drunk driving, manslaughter, or reckless endangerment all because they decided of their own accord to go out and drink then behave irresponsibly? No. The bartender simply served the drinks and whatever the person did after that was not associated with the bar or the bartender in any way, shape, or form. Its funny to me how one minute a bartender can be someone’s best friend, yet as soon as the customer gets a little too drunk from not knowing their own limits and gets into a fight, suddenly the bartender becomes the enemy and is to blame. People need to understand that a bartender is there to serve drinks, not to hop over the counter to break up fights: that is what bouncers are for. The simple fact that bartenders get blamed and accused everyday for false accusations is just absurd. Their job is hard enough serving drinks to loads of drunks, people that chose to put themselves in potentially risky or harmful situations, without having to deal with being accused of not cutting someone off resulting in unfortunate consequences for the customer.
It is so infuriating that people can’t take responsibility for their own actions, that they have to blame their problems on everyone else. Bartenders are not to blame for people’s own stupidity; seriously, they serve drinks, take tips, are very courteous most...
