Baylor University
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”(Proverbs 4:7.) Attending a college or university is a gigantic step to gain that knowledge. Baylor University is a private university in Waco, Texas. Baylor is one of the best schools in the world nationally ranked as a Christian school. These are a few reasons why you have to go to Baylor. The History, the Traditions, and the great athletic Program make the school even better. Despite the Big 12 conference, the school itself offers many different career majors and degrees that are truly interesting.
Baylor University is named after District Judge R.E.B Baylor who suggested the Union Baptist Association establish a Baptist University in Texas. (www.baylor.edu.).
This year, Baylor turned one hundred and sixty five years old. The community celebrates joyfully, even after all the tragedies that occurred since the founding of Baylor. One being the tornado in 1953 that not only ripped 114 people but also marked the beginning of a decades -long decline. (pg.2 “Is Waco Wacko?” )Holley, Joe Texas Monthly 26.4). Baylor’s “Waco” still shines more strongly than any other city in Texas (pg.1). “There’s no publicity that’s bad publicity,” says Jerry MacLauchlin, a professor of theater and dance at Baylor University.
Baylor also has many traditions. One of them is “DiadelOso,” “the day of the bear,” which stands for nature day (baylor.edu/diadeloso/)Since 1934, the students take a day of their busy schedules each spring, to enjoy the delightful weather outside of the four walls that surround them every day. Diadeloso brings an all day music festival to the school. The festival features artists and national and regional acts.
