BEAUTY AND SOCIETY.
Beauty is not just the external beauty; it is more than just external. Everyone is beautiful in their own way. Today, society view beauty just as an external beauty. I believe the most important beauty is the inner beauty. Someone that is beautiful externally may not be beautiful inside, in fact they can be the ugliest person ever inside. But most of us do not know this, we just judge others based on the external beauty instead of ones personality. We may judge someone that is very beautiful inside without even knowing it, just because they look different.
Beauty is beyond inner beauty, it comes in different shapes, height and color. Some people may have very low self-esteem because they have been told that they are too short, tall or dark. Even myself I can relate to Alice Walker. When I was a little girl I have always gotten compliments on my looks and when I got to middle school, students would always tease me about my lips because I have big lips. But I have come to realize that my lips are my identity, they define who I am and that is my beauty. Just like Alice Walker’s eye were her identity and her beauty.
Society views beauty as an outer appearance, but the thing that most of us misunderstand is that beauty start from the inside first and then shows on the outside. Beauty is ones identity, value and pride. Some people think that they are ugly or have a low self-esteem because society focuses on the external beauty. It is sad to hear to the media and Hollywood define beauty and now society just goes along with the media and Hollywood. People would do anything to look a certain way and that is not what beauty is. They should actually focus more on the inner beauty first and the outer second. I believe that would be a great example to children and adults with low self-esteem. I wish that other could just see beauty as external and not just inner.
External beauty can really lower ones self-esteem. Just like Alice Walker, when she did...
