One of the lessons taught in this movie is to be persistent and not to give up easily. This is seen in multiple areas throughout the film. First of all, one of the most significant moments in which this act of courage is shown, is at almost at the end of the movie, where the Jamaican bobsledding team flip over and land on their heads. This happens when the sled partially breaks and this makes the sled go out of control. After this exciting and tense part of the movie, they stand up and pick up the sled, signaling that they are not prepared to give up. The crowd gives them an overwhelming applause as they cross the finish line, as if they won the gold medal, victoriously. Another part of the movie where you see the bitter determination and the persistence of the team is when they are training on the bobsled with wheels in Jamaica. As seen from this part, they never stop to rest, they continue trying and fighting to become the best at the sport. One more example of this act of persistence is seen when the leader of the Jamaican team, is sitting down in his room, studying the different turns and parts of the race. Clearly, it is possible to see that he puts all of his mind and effort in to studying this, and refuses to come for a celebration drink with the coach and his 3 team mates. He is so concentrated in all of his work. Even when things didn’t work very well or they lost the first time, they kept trying and hence made it in to the finals!
