Being a leader is to hold a set of standards that benefit your walk in life as well as instill your values to your work force that you hold leadership over. With this a leader needs to know when it is time to lead and when it is time to follow. By doing this you will gain leadership traits from your superiors that can be taken and added to your base of moral values to improve upon your way as a leader. In the Marine Corps there are set leadership traits that, if upheld will and make you function properly as a leader and a Marine. Use these traits as a moral base for yourself and you will function properly as a leader in the Marine Corps.

Justice is the practice of being fair and consistent. A just person gives consideration to each side of a situation and bases rewards or punishments on merit. Having this will greatly improve the situation if you need to make a fair call on a situation that calls for you to make a decision on a problem at hand, you will make the right and fair decision. To me this isn’t one of the traits that you need to function as a leader because there may be situations where you could made a just decision and your Marine will go down, but if you have compassion on your Marines there will be more respect on their part and they will be more willing to get your jobs done. To develop this you need to find out how to step out of the situation without any emotion at all make your decision.

Judgment is your ability to think about things clearly, calmly, and in an orderly fashion so that you can make good decisions. Having good Judgment will help you with the problems you encounter in your life because it allows you to make the right decision. This trait falls hand in hand with Justice because to make good Judgment you need to be just, you cant favor or make a decision only for you it has to be what the right decision will be for the greater good.
