My Rationale
I will be doing my final project on the gang the The Black P Stones from the southside of Chicago and other existing chapters throughout America. The project will require me to go in depth about the gang’s actions and research all details of the gang itself. This semester in English two of the primary writing skills we have focused on are structure and researching skills. In fact, one of the main purposes of project two was to improve researching skills by knowing how to spot valid and invalid sources. Also, all writing really requires some type of structure and two of the four projects worked on this semester were similar to research papers. The reason I bring up structure and researching skills is because these skills will be utilized most in my research paper. I will need to choose valid sources and disregard non-credible ones. Structure will be very important because I will be finding a ton of information on my topic and I need to figure out what I will be putting in my paper and how to organize all the information in a fluent way. Another writing skill we have worked on in class that my research paper will demonstrate is making a good intro/conclusion. In this paper I will obviously be using the skill we went over in class about intros and conclusions when I write them in my paper. This should be beneficial to me as well because I struggle at writing them. Overall, I believe my research paper will be a good demonstration of the skill used and obtained in this course. This is especially due to the fact that a large part of the class is based on writing papers and research and that is exactly what my final project will consist of.
