Jacynta typed her name into the screen and waited for the page to load. She nervously bit her nails as she was anxious to see what reply she would get. The Facebook logo popped up on her screen, but the red icon over the message symbol was the thing she was focused on. She completely ignored the rest of the page, including all the statuses and photos her friends had recently posted. She clicked the red icon and closed her eyes, praying to god that the answer would be yes. She slowly opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was no. The words around it didn’t matter to her, it was like the word no was being thrown into her face. She slammed the laptop screen down, looked out the window and calmed herself down. You would think that after all the times she’s been rejected the pain would stop. But that wasn’t the case.
Jacynta just wished for one thing: A ball date. Something so simple yet it meant so much to her. It was like it represented her all life as being an outcast, someone who never fitted in. She had asked a countless amount of guys, but the answer had always been the same: no. It didn’t matter what way it was written in, it was all same. Some boys had felt bad and tried to explain their choice, while others left their rejection small and sharp.
Jacynta honestly believed that she had a chance this time. Her and a guy from school had starting talking a few weeks before over Facebook and instantly clicked. He had even hinted a few times that he would be interested in going with her, but they were just words; empty promises. Jacynta studied the world outside her window and sighed. She envied that trees blowing in the wind outside, They looked so elegant flowing in the breeze. Jacynta wasn’t bad looking by anyone’s standards, but she lacked...
