Book Review: Good Country People

Book Review: Good Country People

When I first read the title Good Country People, the first thing that came to mind was farming. The reason farming came to mind are they always saying that country is the ones to be farmers. And for some reason, little house on the prairie came to mind. The island where my parents were born you mostly found country people to do farming, they supplied most of the Island with produce, and it was almost said that those country farmers are good people. Wow look how people could be classified as good people because they supply food for their own survival of living. However that was more than 45 years ago.
The title does not correspond at all with the story. I expected something else completely different; I expected the stories to be full of laughter, struggle, and for some reason, death. I never expected a crook portraying himself to be man of god and a Vitter young lady with a wooden leg.
Great story
Before I comment about your posting I want to bring to your attention that the both us posting at the beginning is similar. I have to apologize even though it was not intentional. Yes I know things do happen but I still want to tell you I am sorry. What I should have done was read all the postings before I submitted mines.
I come to realize half way through the readings Emily is insane. Only a crazy person would have a dead father in the house for days and denying the fact that he is dead. I could never understand why she killed Homer. Probably because he interest in men and women. Hey, if she was a person to socialize more probably she would never die an old lonely miserable woman. Emily needed more than a rose she needed psychiatric help.
