Point number 6 brings up a hidden meaning. To me it sounds like they are saying to get your country’s women to think like Brazilian women. The Brazilian women have come to the conclusion that a smaller family fits their economic and social preference. They believe that it is way to expensive and even a nuisance to have so many children. The small quarters of city apartments makes it difficult for one to house a large family. A quick technology boom and rush to the city helped cause fertility to drop dramatically. More women were interested in their education, careers, and then a family. They find it hard to support and balance their dreams for themselves in regard to their life when you throw in six to eight children.
Many Brazilian women are getting permanent birth control done to help keep away from having more unwanted children. The government is not doing a whole lot when it comes to forcing their population to have fewer children. Many things that are leading to this downfall in fertility is how families are portrayed to the public. Many commercials, TV shows, and mall advertisements show a small Brazilian family rather than a large soccer team full of siblings. Since Brazil is a strong catholic nation, they do not support abortion or birth control. So, it is hard to see where this downfall of fertility is coming from since they are not using these methods as much as one might want to think. The Brazilian women are “closing down factories” because they want to. These women do not want any more burdens on them when fulfilling their day to day activities. They believe they are satisfied with a smaller amount of children if any at all.
