LABORATORY SUPERVISOR

Under the general guidance of the Medical Director of the Laboratory and Health Center Administration, the Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for the management, administration and technical leadership of the Laboratory. The general lab supervisor will be able to perform all duties listed. There may be circumstances were other duties will be assigned as needed. The other duties will not go out of the realm of the laboratory and its functions.
General laboratory supervisor job description:
Will make all schedules for all employees of the laboratory, and pathology department, to insure that all shifts are covered appropriately.
Will monitor and evaluate all Quality Control results.
Will perform yearly evaluations on all employees of the laboratory and pathology department, to ensure accurate and quality work for the safety of all patients and others.
Will perform all updating of the Laboratory Information System to monitor and verify that all applications of the LIS are accurate and are current on all updates as approved by the MIS department.
Will be able to perform all bacteriological tests on body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings and all other culture materials. Will prepare and send out all specimens for mycology, parasitology, and virology, to provide adequate care and testing of all patients.
Will be able to perform all Immunological and serological tests on body fluids and other specimens, and will document all test results accurately in the LIS system as to provide adequate care of all patients.
Will be able to perform the collecting, testing and storing of blood and blood products. Will be able to maintain all Blood Bank records. Will perform all Blood Bank procedures as listed in the Blood Bank procedure manual.
Will be able to perform and observe chemical tests on patient’s specimens and correctly record all results in the LIS system.
