Riordan Manufacturing is a fortune 1000 company that has over 46 million in annual sales and is one of the most leading manufacturers of plastics. Riordan Manufacture headquartered is in San Jose, California with production facilities in Pontiac, Michigan and Albany, Georgia. Since Riordan began in 1992, the company has expanded its services and product line to include: plastic beverage containers and customized plastic parts. The majority of its customers are automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, the Department of Defense, soft drink makers and bottlers, and appliance manufacturers. Due to the company's increasingly growth, Riordan decided to expand its operational facilities to partner with Chinese affiliates in China. In 2000, Riordan's expanded efforts took the company overseas to Hangzhou, China. Riordan is responsible for over 550 employees managed by the Human Resources (HR) department (University of Phoenix, 2009). Riordan is currently seeking a more sophisticated and efficient information system to deal with the HR department. Currently, the HR department has a system and process for conducting business but, Riordan is concerned with transforming the tools/systems they are currently working with into a more accessible, cost effective and usable, format. The purpose of this paper is to describe techniques and designs that would make this project a success and come up with a scope and feasibility of the project.
The current system that is used is HRIS. The company’s HRIS system was installed in 1992. It is a part of the financial systems package and keeps track of the following employee information:
