When deciding how to proceed with the purchasing of an accounting system there are different things that must be considered. This will include benefits to the company, the type of technology needed to be successful, this also includes what features will be needed and finally costs of the overall expansion from one way to another. In the process of deciding which system would be best for the company it hired a consulting firm that cost the company right of the top $. 50,000. This firm helped in the selection and installation of the comprehensive Retail Management System or R.E.M.S for short. Smith consulting was selected for this project with the understanding that the firm would not only purchase but install the first REMS in a store and any other stores that would follow. They also contractually agreed to service these systems yearly. The need to purchase only cost effective modules was a necessity to take them from a hand written system to a printable system of reports made this a perfect fit for the company. The idea of this paper is to explain how these separate modules can work in unison to help the company Kudler foods become more organized and in turn become more profitable.
The General Ledger module is the first part of the overall system that is in place. This will allow the company to chart all accounts and is the center of this new system. This general ledger system will provide information to finance and accounting departments, this will allow them to generate reports such as year to date, transaction history and even balance sheets..
